Common things, big problems

I just found out that the solar eclipse we're about to have could cause issues with our power supply. Maybe as I get older, I keep seeing the vulnerability of life and our country. I thought we were much more secure as a society when I was younger, and now I realize we're not as protected as I thought. Common things can cause catastrophic problems.

Apparently, the solar eclipse can cause a strain on our power grid because of the decline in solar power. It's shocking to me that just a little bit of time during the solar eclipse could potentially cause an issue. I thought we had some kind of extra redundancy. It makes my mind wander to what else could happen in the atmosphere that could cause a disaster. Huge temperature changes? If one day the temperature went up by 100 degrees? 1000? 100,000 degrees? Anything is possible.

Preparation is one of my top thoughts moving forward. In fact, I just ordered one of the emergency food buckets. I am going to actually try the food and make it to see what it entails. If I like it, I am going to stock up. After all, we are just "hanging by a thread."
